  • Peep and the Big Wide World: Night light / Sounds like (22:02) Night Light Afraid that the sun has forgotten to rise, Peep and Quack are relieved when they discover a flashLight. Shadows can help you make pictures! The kids trace shadows inside on paper and outside on the driveway to make pictures. "Try making shadows with your friends." Sounds Like. . . Peep and Chirp get lost, but use a range of familiar—and annoying!—sounds to find their way home. The kids discover that there is sound all around them. They take a walk around the city to find sources of sound. "Try listening for sounds all around where you live." (Grades K-3)
  • Stage one science: Light and color (15:00) Various sources of light and the differences between darkness and light are used to help children discover how shadows are produced. The relationship between light and color is explained. Finally, a prism is used to produce a rainbow of colors. (Grades K-2)
  • Exploring heat and light (10:00) The young scientists look at the concepts of heat and Light, as well as the parts of our bodies that sense these phenomena. They also learn about reflection, shadows, and temperature. (Grades K-2)
  • Dr. Dad's PH3: Episode Eight: Optics (14:05) Students observe how different shaped lenses change the way light bends. (Grades K-2)
  • Sound: A first look (17:00) This program explains that sound is caused by something vibrating. It then describes how people use sound to communicate; how sound varies in its loudness or softness (volume) and its highness or lowness (pitch). The video also shows how musical instruments work and how students can make their own instruments out of simple materials. (Grades K-2)
  • Wonder of sound.(13:00) Through instrument, voice, and graphics, students easily discover how sounds are produced and students learn how we hear. Vibration is demonstrated, and children experiment with the way sound travels—in the air, through the ground, and under water. (Grades K-3)
  • Stage one science: Sounds O.K.(15:00) "Sounds O.K." explores the concepts that all Sounds are made by objects vibrating; Sounds are heard by the ear and can be made louder or softer, higher or lower; and that Sound can be reflected. Children make a variety of instruments which may be banged, plucked, shaken and blown. A visit to a television studio shows how Sound effects can create and dramatically change a story. (Grades K-2)
  • Peep and the Big Wide World: Peep plants a seed/ The root problem. (22:02) Peep Plants a Seed Peep discovers a patch of sunflowers and decides to grow one for himself. What do seeds need in order to sprout? The kids place seeds and beans on 2 trays with moist paper towels and set them by the window. One is covered so it gets no light. How do the seeds look a week later? "Try growing things from seeds, beans and peas." The Root Problem There’s a snake in Quack’s pond! (Fish are one thing, but a snake is completely unacceptable.) A worm. An old piece of sidewalk. A strangely colored rock. Where did the kids find these things? By digging holes you never know what you might find. "See what you can find when you dig some holes." (Grades K-3)
