Today February 14, 2008 in Lima, Peru everyone was asleep but suddenly at 6:30 am an earthquake happened minutes later we saw in the TV that this terrible earthquake was felt from the Callao to Arica, Chile. The earthquake was felt 2 minutes, they say that this catastrophe happened because the Nazca plate and the South American plate collide. We thought the earthquake was 7.0 but it was 8.5 magnitude on the Richer Scale.

 

   This big earthquake took many peoples life about 35 people died 270 people were very injured. Because houses fell on top of them, or the people were in cars fell into the holes that were made in the street because of the earthquake, or because the building fell on top of them or many more reasons.

 

   They couldn’t contact people in Arica because the lines were busy, but later we knew that this earthquake was felt so strong that people died of panic.
